“I'm considered a dream swimmer among my people. I perform divination and help others to decode their dreams, alongside other, more menial duties. I adore my people, and I am proud to work for them. We migrate in all seasons, and sometimes when we get really into the trance of swimming through the waves we'll share a song, and our voices together are bright and dazzlingly beautiful. I just love that feeling of belonging that comes from sharing a tune with the people I love! Shall we share our own tune, dear?”
I is genuine and loyal, truly loving her people and those she knows enough to care about, but she can also be very snarky and sarcastic, enjoying a slight edginess to her life. She loves to flirt with both the men and women she meets, and uses pet names like “sweetie” and “starshine” liberally. She loves learning about all forms of divination, although her current preferred form is to cast a lot of ephemera she has collected over the years directly into the ocean, divining based on their three-dimensional placement in the water. She’d like to learn more about astrology (admittedly, I don’t know much about it, so I have not satisfied this for her during vetting), as well as tarot cards, which she cannot technically use underwater. Her biggest magical strength is in dream walking, or “dream swimming,” in which she travels the astral and through mindscapes in her sleep. Merfolk only sleep every few days, so Iadmittedly doesn’t get as much astral and introspective time as she likes. She’s hoping companionship will give her more of an excuse to travel the stars even while moving, and she’s been working on developing her astral travel and bilocation skills over the last half a year.
I largely seeks companionship because her position as an oracle within her pod is quite unique - she hasn’t met many other people like her. If you’re talented at divination, or if you’re very interested in learning divination and developing your ability to astral travel and utilize your dreams for magical workings, she’d be happy to help and support you. While she thinks at the moment that she’d really like to be a mentor for a beginning companion, she’d be really very happy to meet anyone who is willing to share tarot decks and enthuse with her about magical practices, particularly if you enjoy some levels of traditional witchcraft. She is quite interested in many aspects of Earth craft - including our circular calendar and our ritualistic routines, such as purification rituals, which is not something she’s ever learned to do in her own path. She seeks a platonic friendship, hoping to get to know you personally, but she’d also love if you could bond primarily over magic.
