Griffin Custom Conjure
Griffins are among the most classical beasts that are considered wonderful for beginning companionship, right alongside dragons, unicorns, and phoenixes. They are avian creatures, with the stature and hindlegs of a lion, but the head, wings, and claws of an eagle on their front half. They are creatures aligned with the sun and illumination, hoarding tomes and scrolls or bits of art, and appreciating gold and jewels quite a bit. They are wonderful at digging and appraising found objects and gems, and many of them have a deep appreciation for archaeological artifacts. In having a Griffin in your family, you may find that you stumble upon small caches of wealth and abundance more frequently - whether physically or figuratively. They are also quite physically capable, with sharp claws and powerful bodies, and their ability to fly giving them a wonderful aerial advantage, making them fantastic protectors and property guards. Disposition-wise, they are proud and regal beasts who respond well to displays of respect and politeness.
The Griffins I conjure come from a realm that is inhabited by humans. Their world is roughly post-medieval in feel, with many of the formal rules and kingdoms toppled by the people, but their human population is not as large, so their settlements are rather spread out and their technology has not developed much beyond what we would consider medieval. Griffins in this world protect and oversee their towns and have a symbiotic relationship with the humans there - they are regarded as noble and helpful beasts, although everyone is well-aware that their services come with a price, so they are often provided tithes.
Griffins tend to live far apart and are solitary unless mated, although they get along just fine with neighboring brethren, often meeting up regularly to swap stories and discuss the state of the human settlements they protect. Many of them patrol their territory and scour the ruined areas of their world for artifacts they like. While this is certainly a rather eventful life, some of the more spiritually-inclined Griffins are interested in having relations with humans from other worlds. They are fascinated by the idea of a relationship that is not governed by give and take, and instead a true emotional connection. For many Griffins who are older and mateless, human companionship is a lovely way to take the edge off their loneliness.
